With so many activities happening across Cornwall, it’s possible to have some fantastic family days out without much expense.

Here are a selection of attractions offering free events to keep you and your little ones occupied this Summer:

Kresen Kernow
Redruth. Fun, creative activities this summer, and learn about some amazing women of Cornwall in the exhibitions. Follow the sensory trail, enjoy reading in the library and eat yummy cake in the café! The full details online: Events – Kresen Kernow

The Box Plymouth
Plymouth’s award-winning museum & art gallery (free admission). 25 Jul to 31 Aug: celebrating light and colour whatever the weather!
There will be FREE family activities each Tue, Wed and Thu throughout the school holidays, inspired by the ‘Reframing Reynolds’ and ‘Dappled Light’ exhibitions with children’s yoga and mindfulness sessions, science activities, making and using paints from natural materials, and colourful printing with gelli plates; 10.30am to 12.30pm & 1.30 to 3.30pm.

Hayle Heritage Centre

9, 23 & 30 Aug: free creative summer craft sessions from 1.30 to 3.30pm. The centre is open Wednesdays and Fridays, 11am to 4pm, & Saturdays in the summer. Royal Cornwall Museum

11 Jul to 23 Sep: Wonderful new exhibition & themed family activities – Adrift: Lego Lost at Sea. In 1997, a rogue wave knocked 62 containers from a cargo ship off Cornwall. Five million pieces of lego were set adrift, washing up on beaches across the southwest. This is the story of what was lost and what was learned about the ocean, its currents and pollution. Plastic Soup: free, daily, family activities, age 3+, 10am to 3pm, different creative and STEM activities including plastic printing, sieving for nurdles, discover what floats, create a jellyfish mobile and beachcomber bingo!

Pick up a passport and collect a stamp each week from the museum.
