We love hands-on history, and Cornwall Heritage Trust’s FREE Heritage Explorer Day at Treffry Viaduct, near St Austell sounds like a winner. 12 Feb, 11am to 3pm: Explore Cornwall’s incredible industrial past with the team from Cornwall Heritage Trust and be transported back in time with storytelling, puppets, make-and-take activities, a family trail and meet characters from the viaduct’s past. www.cornwallheritagetrust.org

Free Family Threads craft workshops this half term (10, 13 to 15 Feb) at Kresen Kernow Little Vauxhall, Redruth, be inspired by stories of the women behind Redruth’s rag trade and try rainbow weaving, visible mending, cross-stitch bookmarks & mini fashion designs. 2 Mar: St Piran’s Day Colourful Lino Printing workshops. Penlee House Gallery & Museum, Penzance Half term: 15 Feb 1.30 to 3.30pm: make souvenirs of the present inspired by the past – badges or magnets inspired by beautiful old paintings of West Cornwall. All half term – free Twitchers Museum Adventure (see page 14 of Blackbird Pie Feb Mar issue.
